Board of Directors: 2016-2017

The following is our Board of Directors, whose hard work and dedication to their craft, make Hamilton Theatre Inc. possible:


RICHELLE TAVERNIER – Chairwoman & Box Office Manager

Richelle has been a member of Hamilton Theatre Inc. for the last 7 years and Chairwoman for 3. Richelle is a very active member of the community and takes pride in all she does. Not only is she known for her onstage credits all over the GTA, but, Richelle is a well-known director as well as our in house Producer. This year Richelle was the recipient of a Top 10 Spot, in the Hamilton Spectator Readers’ Choice Awards for ‘Theatre Instructor’. When not running the HTI Box Office, or making decisions to keep our theatre afloat; Richelle has her own Production Company, “Ripplz Effect”, where she produces Professional Musical Theatre with such titles as – “Smokey Joe's Café” (Hamilton Place) with the Original Broadway Cast and “Two Lost Worlds”, where she travelled to New York City to produce this workshop in order to sell it to Top Broadway Producers – see you at Tony Season.

Richelle, would like to thank the volunteers and all who donate to Hamilton Theatre Inc. This company has become our second home, without the generosity from our patrons we wouldn’t be able to provide “The Best of Broadway” – here is to another 60 years.


DUSTIN JODWAY – First Vice Chair & Studio Manager

This being Hamilton Theatre Inc's 60th Season, it is also Dustin's 20 year anniversary with HTI! This past year Dustin received his long awaited INKY Award and became a lifetime member. This is something Dustin holds dear to his heart. Dustin loves being on and off stage performing in over 20 productions and Directing 3. Dustin has also become HTI's resident Set Designer and loves bringing unexpected designs to our small and intimate setting. Dustin is the 2016 Hamilton Spectator's Readers Choice Silver Winner for 'Best Theatre Instructor' and is so proud and honoured to receive this award. Thank you to all who voted. Dustin would also like to thank all HTI's dedicated volunteers and patrons, without you there is no us. Get your season subscriptions now, you don't want to miss out! Dustin is thrilled to enter our 60th Season and can't wait to celebrate many more years to come.


MONICA CAIRNEY – Second Vice Chair & Properties Manager

Monica Cairney has been active in Hamilton community theatre since 2007 when she graduated from McMaster University.  With almost 100 shows under her belt as actor, stage manager, director, producer or assistant stage manager she has almost seen it all. She has been involved in productions at Dundas Little Theatre, The Player's Guild, Waterdown Theatre, Binbrook Little Theatre, Hammer Entertainment, The Hamilton Fringe Festival and McMaster University. When not directly involved in a production she helps build sets, gather props and helps with the technical aspects of the shows. When she isn't at HTI she can be found working as a supervisor at Starbucks, as coffee is her primary source of life fuel. Monica is currently serving her fourth year on the Board of Directors (third as Second Vice Chair) and is grateful to be a part of this amazing group of talented and passionate people.


RIANE LEONARD – Secretary & Social Media Manager

Riane first joined HTI in 2010 as a lighting board operator for Smokey Joe’s Cafe.  Over the past 2 years, she has steadily worked with the company in various crew and production team positions. Riane is a graduate of McMaster University’s Theatre & Film program and Mohawk College’s Event Coordinator program. She has worked on numerous productions at McMaster and with community theatre groups in Hamilton.  Riane is grateful for the many opportunities that HTI has granted her, including performing onstage in her first musical - HAIR.  A lifelong Hamiltonian, Riane is thrilled for the opportunity to use her passion for the arts and the Hamilton community to further the success and legacy of HTI.



Shane Bowley, a full-time contractor and Graduate of Mohawk College Construction Engineering has only recently joined the Board of Directors. Having spent most of his life surrounded by music and the arts; both in and out of the musical theatre community; Shane is filled with excitement and joy to be a part of the professional side of HTI. Shane carries with him an aspiration of utilizing his business mindset and personal skills to aid in the pecuniary and communal proliferation of the warm and welcoming space that is Hamilton Theatre Inc.



Mariah joined the HTI family in 2012 when she was cast as Linda in one of her favourite shows, Blood Brothers. Since then, she has appeared in five other HTI shows. Mariah has a musical theatre performance diploma from Sheridan college and is currently enrolled in Theatre and Film studies at McMaster University. She has a passionate desire to raise awareness about social justice issues and engage with the community. After earning a diploma in Social Services, she worked as a Research Assistant at McMaster for four years on various studies in the department of Health Aging and Society. She is currently taking a break from the stage while she is home with her baby girl, but enjoys sitting on the board and helping out around the theatre when she can.



Sarah is delighted to be on the HTI Board of Directors for their 60th anniversary season and cannot wait to see what the year has in store! Sarah first joined HTI in 2012 as stage manager for HTI’s production of Xanadu; since then, she has had the joy of working on several HTI productions, including, most recently, stage managing HAIR, which was awarded silver for “Best Local Theatre Production” in View Magazine’s 2016 Readers’ Choice Awards. Sarah would like to thank all of HTI’s devoted volunteers and patrons for their continuous dedication to, and support of, this little community theatre: it takes a village, and we are so grateful to have you a part of it.



Ed is an employment and human rights lawyer in Hamilton and has had a love for the theatre all his life.  He has appeared in a number of HTI shows over the years and truly values his theatre family.  Ed’s philosophy with respect to his theatre endeavours is to do it well but do it for the joy.  Luckily for him, Hamilton Theatre Inc. has always provided a creative space and lots of joy and he is thrilled to contribute as a member of our Board of Directors.



Stephanie is an active member in the GHA Theatre Community having participated in productions as well as holding multiple board positions in the last few years: Hamilton Fringe Festival, Black Box Fire, Hammer Entertainment, McMaster Musical Theatre & McMaster Thespian Company. Stephanie is also the proud recipient of the City of Hamilton, Hamilton Arts Awards, Theatre Emerging Artist Award in 2012. Stephanie is thrilled to be on the board of a company she has been supporting for the last 10 years! Previous HTI credits include: Little Shop of Horrors (Director); Blood Brothers (Mrs. Lyons); Xanadu (Calliope), Jekyll & Hyde (Mrs. Poole) & Urinetown: the Musical! (Little Becky Two Shoes). Executive assistant in the financial world by day and theatre lover by night! Stephanie lives in Hamilton's east-end with her hubby James and their 3 cats: Barry Manilow, Sir Elton John and Scaramouche Fandango.


KAREN RACHNER – Recording Secretary & Membership Coordinator

Karen has been an active member of HTI for the last 16 years. She has been our Recording Secretary for the past 7 years and membership for 5 years. She has been a script assistant for many shows including Falsettos, Suds, Blood Brothers, Man of La Mancha, Into the Woods, Anything Goes, My Fair Lady and Once Upon a Mattress. She has also been stage manager for 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Sugar Babies and A Christmas Survival Guide. Karen is also an INKY winner. On top of all that Karen has ushered and helped with concessions.
